State of Art of Using Biofuels in Spark Ignition Engines

Biofuels are receiving increased scientific attention, and recently different biofuels have been proposed for spark ignition engines. This paper presents the state of art using in engines (SIE). Different biofuels, mainly ethanol, methanol, i-butanol-n-butanol, acetone, blended together single dual issues evaluated as renewables SIE. The were compared with each other well fossil fuel Future SIE highlighted. A method to reduce automobile emissions reformulate into new fuels is presented discussed. benefits weaknesses summarized. study established that ethanol has several a biofuel SIE; it enhanced engine performance decreased pollutant significantly; however, showed some drawbacks, which cause problems cold starting conditions and, additionally, may suffer from vapor lock situation. Methanol also improvements emissions/performance similarly but poisonous sort incompatibility materials/systems; its being miscible water another disadvantage. lowest was displayed by n-butanol i-butanol they greatest amount unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) CO emissions, greenhouse effect. Ethanol methanol introduced highest performance, CO2 emissions. Acetone moderate best/lowest UHC Single blends ones, results ones. concluded next generation expected be biofuels. other, ethanol–methanol (EM) superior comparison n-butanol–i-butanol (niB) i-butanol–ethanol (iBE).
